After a great morning interview at L.A.'s NPR show Good Food with Evan Kleinman (such a smart interviewer) we headed down to Irvine for another TV taping. Fortunately my straight up L.A, breakfast of a greenfood smoothie left me hankering for lunch and we had plenty of time to do so. So while D.C. is home to the second largest Vietnamese population outside of Saigon, Orange County is home to the first. Me, I wanted a classic Viet sandwich (Banh Mi) but my tour partner/son had his heart set on an Inside Out burger--something HIS friends said should be his first taste of L.A. Mine was healthy, fresh and spicy. His? well--he LOVED it. It was ordered as a double double animal-style (huh?) and I also saw him put some ketchup dipped french fries between the layers too. One of my tips of home cooking for guys is to notice what they're eating out and try to make it better at home. I'll file that little detail for a future experiment.

LA LUNCHPosted by Lucinda Scala Quinn
A tour first: we arrived at a national morning show for our taping and the producer met us to announce that the whole show had been cancelled, taken off the air, kaput. This is happening to so many magazines, newspapers and TV shows. I'm sorry for all those with lost jobs!
But, we got time to talk to some L.A. food bloggers in beautiful Santa Monica which can be seen here on Erika's blog: thanks ladies http://inerikaskitchen.blogspot.com/2009/11/giveaway-mad-hungry-by-lucinda-scala.html. Today, another beautiful day in Sunny So Cal and off to an interview and demo tonight in Westlake. Next blog all about the star studded opening in Beverly Hills last night--SO L.A. (not at all NYC-style) so shi-shi!
