Recipes From Today's Show: Julia Child Redux

TODAY on MHTV: I learned a lot about cooking from Julia Child, and I’m making a few recipes in her honor. For my spin on Coq au Vin, a classic French chicken dish, I’m turning it into a casserole: chicken thighs braised in white wine sauce then baked with egg noodles, Muenster cheese, and a sprinkle of Panko bread crumbs. Then, I’m making an omelet in the French style, just like Julia would have, by cooking eggs in butter and topping them with fresh herbs. On the side, greens tossed with a simple vinaigrette.   • this was one of your best episodes!!! i love when it is just you (although i love calder, too). But this was special..you did Julia Child proud. That casserole you made looks absolutely wonderful..as did the salad. you are the modern age julia child..making cooking accessible and fun for everyone!! Plus you love butter and olive oil and salt & pepper..i love that about you. Keep up the great work!

  • I love your recipes but I cant see your show on TV because I am from outside the US. I used to see your recipes at marthastewart.com but lately there are no videos.. Is that permanent? I really like seeing the videos along with reading the recipes..

  • I have been cooking for my four kids and a constant parade of their hungry friends for 30 years. Our house has always been a dinner destination because the food is plentiful and fresh, and the company festive. Since discovering your show in January this year, I almost feel like I'm just learning how to cook! Watching you build flavors from all over the world on such user-friendly terms is a remarkable experience. Who knew I could make Biryani rice and that everyone in the house would be drawn into the kitchen to see what smelled so good? Now when the kids-- all in their 20s now-- are around, they hear me reference "Lucinda" so often, they think I have a long-lost relative I've just discovered. Mind you though, no one is complaining. They just keep looking forward to my next discovery-- which today is Coq au Vin casserole. Many, many thanks!
