TODAY on MHTV: My friend Beth, a Philly native, is here to help me make few of the classic dishes from the City of Brotherly Love. First up, Philly cheese steaks: thin slices of beef topped with homemade cheese sauce and layered into a soft hoagie roll. What could be better? Then, we’re topping our sandwiches with giardiniera, a pickled veggie garnish; you can serve this on the side too. For dessert, my take on an orange Creamsicle float. More from the show.

  • I'm 75 years old and I love your show! I'm so grateful that I found you because even at my age I am learning so many new things from you. I wish I had you when I was younger so that my cooking techniques would be much simpler. Every time I watch an episode I’m learning. I wish I still was cooking everyday for my family. Please help get your show on later in the day so that working people can watch it too. I never miss your show and I’m sorry that they removed the 11:30 episode. Thank you Lucinda!

    I agree with everything llona says above. My daughter-in-law visited recently and she could not put your book down and we loved watching your episodes together. You are a jewel and such an educator. I know you realize that cooking skills are not taught in the home or in school. Folks get by with whatever works for them. But sooner or later most people begin searching for healthier, more fulfilling ways to feed their families. And there you are! What a find! You make everyone wish you were their mother, sister or friend. And about that red fingernail polish, I love it!

  • the recipe for the giardiniera it says add another21/2 cups of vinegar is that regular (cider or white) or more white wine vinegar? am anxious to try that dish thanks

    Hi Carole,

    The directions call for adding the entire 2 1/2 cups of white wine vinegar that is listed in the ingredients. You don't have to add any additional vinegar.


  • This looks really really good, the picture makes it look a bit like chilly sauce.
