How YOU Can help OTHERS: CrowdRise + Martha Stewart's Thanks for Giving

Posted by

Hi Mad Hungry-ers,

As you can see above, I've been doing a little filming; not for the TV Show, but for another cause I'm very passionate about: helping others.  I recently shot this video to raise awareness of a fundraiser I'm hosting with the rest of the Martha Stewart Family and I need your help! On Mad Hungry I focus on bringing back the family meal, but there are 50 million Americans that are underserved and have a difficult time putting food on their tables for themselves and their families every day, which is why we're hosting a fundraising initiative with CrowdRise called Martha Stewart’s Thanks for Giving.

Those of you not familiar with CrowdRise, it's a platform to help people and charities raise money for the causes they care about – and for us, we are passionate about food. In helping raise money, Crowdrise also host contests that challenge charities to compete to raise the most money for their cause. In our competition, the charity that raises the most money before Tuesday, November 27th is going to get a $25,000 cash prize from us here at Martha Stewart! The charity in second place, receives $15,000 and third place, $10,000.

As a food editor, author and most importantly, a mom of three, I know how important it is to make things accessible and easy – and CrowdRise does just that.  All you have to do is go to our page on, find a charity that moves you, and make a donation – amount doesn’t matter, whatever is fitting for you, as every dollar counts!

Check out Martha's and Mad Hungry's Facebook and twitter accounts to find out about our sweepstakes that include great prizes from our Macy’s home goods line and some Mad Hungry swag. Most importantly-- and this what Mad Hungry fans do best-- SPREAD THE WORD!  The more people that are in the know, the more donations charities can receive to help others! This is a wonderful initiative program that I'm so excited to be apart of. Help us make this holiday season a little brighter for others by donating to Martha Stewart’s Thanks for Giving.

  • So wonderful to see people doing good. I saw your former MH guest John Contratti making food and giving it to people who really need it after the recent storms. He is a very nice man. His blog has been helping me get ready for Thanksgiving. So what is going on with Mad Hungry. I want it back soon. Anyone who hasn't checked out Mr. C., I have attached his cool blog.

  • Lucinda,

Happy Thanksgiving. Let's hear some MH news.

  • Checking in to see some Thanksgiving recipes, but nothing, What about the loyal MH viewers?

  • Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I am lost without Mad Hungry.
